Shootings are up for the month of April along with more victims, according to crime statistics the Chicago Police Department released.
- New this morning, Chicago police released their crime stats for the month of April. Shootings are up for the month, which means more victims as well. Since 2018, the month of April has only grown more violent.
April murders are trending down, but the total number of them in Chicago has already, in 2021, continued to be a violent trend. It's up across the past three years. And police are also highlighting how carjackings have dropped 55%. Since they peaked in January, they created a new task force with helping to get that number down.
