CBS 2 Meteorologist Mary Kay Kleist has your 10 p.m. RealTime Weather forecast for Wednesday, June 9, 2021.
MARY KAY KLEIST: Poor visibility in spots in the morning, especially near the lakefront as fog rolls in off the lake. We can't rule out a stray shower tomorrow afternoon, but most of that setting up south of I-80. And then we stay warm. We stay humid the rest of the week and right through the front half of the weekend.
As we look at our dew point tracker, that dew point temperature ranging in the mid to upper 60s even touching 70 degrees here over the next couple of days, keeping us in the uncomfortable too sticky range as far as how it feels outside. On our satellite radar review, we see just a few spotty showers left over here South of La Porte County. These are falling apart as they're trying to drift to the West, otherwise it is quiet in Chicago.
So with the fog in the morning, it is going to be humid and warm to start the day, starting at 70 at the airport and Gary. 73 degrees in Joliet at 8:00 in the morning. And 72 in Morris. Now in the afternoon, looks like we'll have a sun-cloud mix, and a tiny chance of a pop up shower or a rumble of thunder. High temperatures again, moving through the mid and upper 80s in many places. 89 in McHenry. 87 degrees in Joliet.
Now, as we set up the weekend, we've been in this hot humid air mass for the last few days and we stay there Friday. We stay there Saturday as well. But I am tracking this front. This front will touch off showers and thunderstorms for Saturday as we stay hot and humid. But then the front crosses the area. Doesn't cool us down, but what it does is drags in a drier air mess. So a northerly wind on Sunday kicks in a less humid feel to the atmosphere. But still, I think on Sunday we should hit 90 degrees also.
But winds will be out of the north at 5 to 10. So that's drawing in that drier air. So as far as rain chances go, only a tiny chance tomorrow. Saturday looks to be our best chance with a 40% chance of showers and storms along that front as it comes through. But boy, ahead of that front, we heat up big time. 92 on Saturday. 90 degrees for a high on Sunday. The real cooling comes after that front over the weekend. And then on Monday, a secondary push of cool air finally comes in for Tuesday and Wednesday. This is where we should be this time of year, normal highs 79 degrees. It's going to take a few days to get there. So another steamy one for us tomorrow.
- All right. I like the look of that Tuesday and Wednesday already. Thank you, Mary Kay.
