Tim Anderson on his ejection from the Chicago White Sox’s series-opening loss to the Milwaukee Brewers: ‘It was a frustrating night’

Chicago White Sox shortstop Tim Anderson looked forward to turning the page.

Anderson and manager Tony La Russa were ejected Friday during a 7-1 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers at American Family Field.

La Russa was kicked out in the bottom of the seventh after arguing balls and strikes, and Anderson was tossed in the top of the eighth after a call went against teammate Yoán Moncada.

“It was a frustrating night,” Anderson said before Saturday’s game. “I feel like he (plate umpire John Libka) made some bad calls on certain pitches. I had to let him know. I had the best seat in the house — I was at short all night.”

Anderson said the key was to “flush that and move on.”

“New day,” Anderson said. “You have to forget that, we lost (Friday) night so we have to bounce back and keep moving. Things happen, so move on and keep playing.”

Anderson agreed with La Russa, who said Friday: “Sometimes if you care about winning, which we do, you flare up.”

“We competed from pitch one all the way to the end,” Anderson said. “You hate to get screwed. We work, man, we have to hold those guys accountable as well. We expect them to work as hard as us.

“We’re out here, we’re all in the big leagues. It says a lot about us. We all have to work to get better. Got to hold them accountable as well and let them know how we feel. And that’s OK. But today’s a new day.”

Anderson plans to continue to “always speak what I feel.”

“I always say what I need to say, when I want to say it and not let anybody control how I need to speak,” he said. “That’s my teammates. Those are my brothers, so of course I’m going to back them up.”
