It’ll soon be slightly easier to get a Chick-fil-A sandwich in Ventura County.

The Atlanta-based fast food chain — known for its chicken fare and spotted cow mascot ― plans to open in north Oxnard and Camarillo.

Construction on the Oxnard restaurant began in the spring. The business’s logo can already be seen near The Collection shopping center from Highway 101.

It's located at 851 Town Center Drive, in a part of the city that has seen an increasing amount of traffic from drivers headed to the center in the Riverpark neighborhood.

Chick-fil-A spokesperson Maggie Grund said in an email an opening date has yet to be set.

Although the popular chain's sites typically draw long drive-through lines, Joe Pearson II, Oxnard’s planning and environmental services manager, said the city is confident the queue won’t block the roadway.

He said a planned double drive-through can accommodate about 20 cars. The city can also force changes if the line does become a problem, he said.

The eatery will be the second for Oxnard. The first is on Rose Avenue near the Walmart shopping center.

A Camarillo Chick-fil-A is also planned, though Grund said it is still in the early stages of development.

Michelle Glueckert D’Anna, a Camarillo spokesperson, said preliminary information submitted to the city shows construction is expected to start in the spring with a possible opening in late 2024 or early 2025.

Chik-fil-A plans to build a new location in Camarillo on a vacant by the Camarillo Premium Outlets on Oct. 19, 2023.

The restaurant will be built on a vacant lot by the Camarillo Premium Outlets at 670 Ventura Blvd.

“We’re excited by the prospects of joining this neighborhood,” Grund said.

The planned locations will be the sixth and seventh to open in Ventura County. Chick-fil-A already has footholds in Ventura, Oxnard, Newbury Park, Thousand Oaks and Simi Valley.

The fast food chain has also submitted a preliminary application to add a second location in Simi Valley at the corners of Cochran Street and Madera Road, city spokesperson Sam Argabrite said. A formal application will need to be submitted before the city can approve or deny a potential project.
