As part of its $360 million renovation, Gainbridge Fieldhouse has signed a deal with Chick-fil-A to open a restaurant on the south side of the main concourse.

The eatery is scheduled to open "late winter," said Danny Lopez, vice president of external affairs and corporate communications at Pacers Sports & Entertainment.

Chick-fil-A, which has more than 2,400 restaurants in the United States, is known for its chicken sandwiches and waffle fries.

The restaurant, founded in 1946 in Georgia by Truett Cathy operates standalone restaurants in suburbs as well as eateries inside malls, on college campuses and in the heart of big cities.

The location in Gainbridge will be accessible only to people attending Pacers games or events inside the fieldhouse.

Chick-fil-A recently announced other new restaurants in central Indiana, including a location in Greenwood and one coming to Greenfield. Downtown, Chick-fil-A is located in Circle Centre Mall. With the Gainbridge Fieldhouse addition, the chain will have nearly 20 Indianapolis area locations.
