🌱 Chickasabogue Park Closing + Shooting On Johnston Ave.

Here are the top three stories today in Mobile:

  1. Beginning Jan. 31, Chickasabogue Park will be closed to the public for a series of infrastructure and amenity improvements. The park is expected to remain closed for a year until the renovation and construction are complete. Renovations will include water, sewer, and roadwork upgrades, as well as the construction of several new spaces — including a playground and splash pad area, an RV campground, and new restroom facilities.   2. A Friday evening shooting on Johnston Avenue left one man dead and two others injured. Mobile police officers who arrived on the scene found a man and woman inside a vehicle suffering from gunshot wounds, as well as a man on the sidewalk suffering from a life-threatening gunshot wound. All three victims were transported to the hospital; 26-year-old Tawanne Lucas died of his injuries. (WKRG News 5)

  3. Mobile police have identified the man who died after his car sank in Eslava Creek. 69-year-old Aubrey Willams was discovered, unresponsive, in the driver’s seat of his vehicle. Mobile Fire-Rescue suffered from life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The investigation is ongoing. (WKRG News 5)
