Chief Imam Is Taught Irish by His Five-Year-Old Daughter

Roots in Pakistan and a childhood in the Netherlands have rather limited Shaykh Dr Umar al-Qadri’s exposure to the Irish language. Now, as chief imam of the Islamic Center of Ireland, he has, via his young daughter, a chance to change this.

This video, shared by al-Qadri on Twitter, shows little Aamina teaching her dad how to count to 10 in Irish.

Al-Qadri told Storyful: “I think it’s important to learn it, as it is part of the culture of Ireland that’s now our home.” Credit: Shaykh Dr Umar al-Qadri via Storyful
