New chief medical officer hired for St. Mary's Health Care System

Dr. Eric J. Schuck, who has practiced medicine and healthcare management for more than 25 years, was recently named chief medical officer for St. Mary’s Health Care System.

Schuck comes to St. Mary’s from HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital and HCA Florida Twin Cities Hospital, where he served as chief medical officer, according to the announcement from Stonish Pierce, president and CEO of Trinity Health of Georgia, which includes St. Mary’s.

Previously, he had worked as a site medical director for pediatrics and emergency services in three other Florida hospitals.

He also worked as a physician and clinical instructor at Yale New Haven Hospital Saint Raphael in New Haven, Conn.

Dr. Schuck graduated with honors from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta. He completed his residency at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base/Dayton Children’s Hospital in Dayton, Ohio, before serving nearly 10 years in the U.S. Air Force.
