KCCI reporter Cynthia Fodor will sign off one final time on June 1 after close to three decades with the local news station.

According to a news release from KCCI, Fodor got her start as an evening anchor at the station in 1994. In 2015, she transitioned to the role of chief political reporter, which is the role she'll be retiring from come June.

“Cynthia is a living example of what it means to be Iowa’s news leader," said KCCI's president Brian Sather. "For decades, she has developed sources, covered stories where they happen, and earned respect from politicians on both sides while holding them accountable."

Fodor hails from Pittsburgh and received a degree in journalism from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio. She's previously worked at news stations in Pittsburgh and Albany, New York, and worked with ABC News in London and Washington, D.C.

Over the course of her time with KCCI, Fodor's work has won her a regional Edward R. Murrow Award, two regional Emmy Awards and the National Transportation Highway Safety Media Award among others.

"I loved every single moment of traveling across the state and telling the stories of Iowans every day,” said Fodor in the release announcing her departure. “I have been so blessed to work with the best people in the business at KCCI and it has been a privilege to serve the good people of Iowa. Thank you for watching and inviting me into your living rooms for nearly 30 years."
