The Kansas City Chiefs had two moves left to make to get the roster to 85 players ahead of Tuesday’s deadline. We now know what those moves are.

According to KC Star reporter Herbie Teope, the Chiefs are waiving DL Austin Edwards and WR Devin Gray from the 90-man roster. These two moves will bring the roster from 87 to 85 players, making the team compliant with this week’s wave of roster cuts. Yesterday the team waived four players and signed one player.

Edwards has been with the team for a few seasons now. A highly-decorated D-II player at Ferris State, Edwards signed with the team’s practice squad during the 2020 NFL postseason after his practice squad contract expired with the Atlanta Falcons. He spent all of the 2021 NFL season on the Chiefs’ practice squad.

Gray was a much more recent signing, joining the team from the USFL ranks after a successful tryout 10 days ago.

The next roster cut deadline is Tuesday, Aug. 23, when the team will be required to go from 85 to 80 players.
