Prepare yourself, Chief fans and Swifties. The Blank Park Zoo's tiger shovelnose catfish chose the Kansas City Chiefs to win the 58th Super Bowl this weekend.

It's a tradition at Blank Park Zoo to let one of its animals predict the winner ahead of the Super Bowl. And, the animals have an impressive track record: They have accurately picked the Super Bowl winner 10 out of 13 times, said Ryan Bickel, the zoo's chief marketing officer.

Last year, the zoo's then 5-month-old giraffe, Bakari, correctly predicted the Kansas City Chiefs would win Super Bowl 57.

"We've done this for over a decade," Bickel said. "It's a little bit of a surprise even, that zoo animals can have this prognostic ability."

How did Blank Park Zoo's catfish make its Super Bowl Prediction?

It took the catfish nearly 15 minutes to make its pick. But, it eventually swam to a pile of food next to the Kansas City Chief's logo to take a side.

Bickel said the fish didn't want to disappoint any fans, he knows a lot of Iowans will be divided this game, particularly with Iowa State alumni Brock Purdy and Iowa alumni George Kittle playing on the San Francisco 49ers.

Fans can tune into KCCI starting at 5:30 p.m. Sunday or stream the game on FuboTVParamount+ or YouTube TV to see if the Chiefs will defeat Purdy and the 49ers.

But, Bickel says Blank Park doesn't recommend wagering on the decisions of zoo animals.
