Chiefs’ Chris Jones tells fans not to donate to GoFundMe set up for his new contract

Chiefs fans who watched Saturday’s preseason game against the Cardinals on television got to see defensive tackle Chris Jones.

Unfortunately, it was just in a commercial for McDonald’s.

Jones missed all of training camp as he has been holding out for a contract extension (he has one year remaining on his current deal).

Multiple fans have set up a GoFundMe page to pay for a new contract for Jones, although they are clearly just for a laugh.

A fan named David Trevino wrote on the fundraising website: “I need $10,000,000 because I don’t play football.”

If Chris Jones needs more money to survive... I definitely do. Cause I definitely ain’t making $20M a year,” Trevino wrote. “Send some money to your boy and help me pay these bills. Inflation ain’t no joke.”

A similar GoFundMe was set up and was made to look like it was Jones who was behind it.

Chris Jones is raising money for Chris Jones Contract,” the page says.

An image of the second fundraiser was shared on Twitter, and the Chiefs star saw it. Jones, however, encouraged fans not to give money to this cause.

“Lol,” Jones wrote on X (née Twitter), “this is not me do not send no money to this.”
