What Chiefs fans need to know about Sunday’s game-day weather in Buffalo

The Chiefs are heading to Orchard Park, New York for Sunday’s divisional-round playoff game against the Bills, and plenty of their fans will be joining them.

Like the two teams’ playoff games from this past weekend, this matchup will be a cold one. It will not be as cold — or as dangerous — as the Bills-Steelers Monday night game, which had to be pushed back a day due to dangerous weather that included winds as high as 65 mph and over a foot of snow.

Good news for Chiefs fans living in or traveling to Buffalo for the game at Highmark Stadium: Sunday’s temperatures won’t be as dangerous as they were last week.

Kansas City Chiefs vs. Buffalo Bills weather forecast

If you are heading to the game, you should still bundle up. The 5:30 p.m. start is expected to be cold, according to the National Weather Service, with temperatures at a high of 24 degrees and a low of 19 on Sunday.

It will be mostly cloudy, according to The Weather Channel. Winds could be between 10-15 mph and there is a 50% chance of snow, but only up to an inch.

For comparison, the temperature in Kansas City on Sunday night is expected to be around 28 degrees, according to the NWS.

The same lake effect snow warning that led to Buffalo’s last game being delayed, ends Thursday, NWS said.
