Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid spoke to the media on Monday, providing an injury update on a single player.

After a collision in the first quarter of the divisional-round game against the Buffalo Bills, Chiefs star S Tyrann Mathieu was ruled out of the game with a concussion. Reid says that Mathieu remains in the NFL’s concussion protocol, but he’s feeling better.

“He’s one of the guys that Rick (Burkholder) has seen this morning,” Reid said. “He’s still in the (concussion) protocol, he’s still going through it, but he does feel good. We’ll just see how that goes going forward.”

Rest assured, the team is monitoring the situation closely and getting him the best possible care so that he’s ready to play in the AFC championship game on Sunday.

As for the other players dealing with injuries like CB Rashad Fenton and RB Darrel Williams, Reid had no updates. Players aren’t due to return to the team facilities until later today, at which point the injured players will get checked out by Rick Burkholder and his staff.

“I haven’t seen the other guys,” Reid said. “They haven’t been in yet. We have a late check-in today. We’re giving the guys a little rest.”

We’ll have all the latest updates for you on Wednesday ahead of the Chiefs’ first practice of the week.
