Each Chiefs player earned more than $300,000 for the team’s four wins during the postseason, including Super Bowl LVIII.

Perhaps linebacker Nick Bolton will use some of that money to pay a fine.

NBC Sports reported Bolton, the former Mizzou star, was fined by the NFL for an unnecessary-roughness penalty during the Chiefs’ 25-22 overtime win over the San Francisco 49ers at Allegiant Stadium.

After the Chiefs’ Isiah Pacheco lost a fumble that was recovered by the 49ers at their 8-yard line, quarterback Brock Purdy scrambled for a 9-yard gain. Bolton made the stop, but he was flagged for a horse-collar tackle.

That resulted in an $8,238 fine for Bolton, according to NBC Sports.

“It was a fairly minor horse-collar tackle by Bolton, who only briefly grabbed the back of Purdy’s jersey and let go without dragging Purdy to the ground,” NBC Sports wrote. “But the officials felt it was worthy of a flag, and the league’s disciplinary office felt it was worthy of a fine.”

Bolton tied with a game-high 13 tackles in Super Bowl LVIII, and he had two quarterback hits and a tackle for loss. He played all but one of the Chiefs’ 71 defensive snaps in the game.
