Many users won’t notice it, but Twitter is making a change that has caught the attention of professional athletes.
Twitter is now charging users to have a blue check mark that serves as authentication. The cost is less than $10 per month, Reuters said, but few on Twitter seem interested in paying.
Lakers star LeBron James wrote on Twitter: “Welp guess my blue will be gone soon cause if you know me I ain’t paying the 5.”
Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill also is out. He tweeted: “For $8 bucks y’all can have this blue check mark, I don’t need no kind of plan”.
Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes saw the discussion on social media and when the check marks would be disappearing. Teammate Marquez Valdes-Scantling suggested Mahomes should just go ahead and pay to keep his.

You don’t need a detailed breakdown of Mahomes’ net worth to know that his response to Valdes-Scantling was hilarious.
“Can’t bro i got kids…,” wrote Mahomes, who has a daughter, Sterling, and son, Bronze.
