Blaine Gabbert’s page at Pro Football Reference shows he’s thrown a mere 35 passes over the past three seasons with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

That’s not surprising since Gabbert was backing up future Hall of Famer Tom Brady. Gabbert’s new job will have him behind another future Hall of Famer: the Chiefs’ Patrick Mahomes.

Gabbert, the former Mizzou star, is signing with the Chiefs and will compete with Shane Buechele to be Mahomes’ primary backup in the 2023 season.

Those Gabbert stats show he has one career reception for negative-16 yards while with the San Francisco 49ers in 2016.

But there is another grab that Buccaneers fans remember. It came after Tampa Bay beat the Chiefs in Super Bowl LV. During the celebration on the water days after the game, Brady famously threw the Lombardi Trophy to a teammate.

That wasn’t the only Lombardi toss over water.

Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans also threw the trophy to Gabbert, who made this sure-handed catch.

Gabbert had this reaction to the Buccaneers’ tweet.
