Chiefs-Ravens ticket demand stays high for AFC Championship Game in NFL Playoffs

When your city hasn’t played host to an NFL conference championship game since 1971, the demand for tickets is bound to be great.

The get-in price for a ticket to the Chiefs-Ravens AFC title game in Baltimore was $526 on StubHub as of Thursday afternoon. Sales are running 140% higher than last year’s championship game at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium between the Chiefs and Cincinnati Bengals.

Baltimore played host to the first AFC Championship Game. The AFL and NFL merged for the 1970 season, and the Baltimore Colts, led by Johnny Unitas, defeated the Oakland Raiders at Memorial Stadium for the championship in January 1971.

The Colts moved to Indianapolis after the 1983 season, leaving Baltimore without an NFL team until 1996. That’s when the Cleveland Browns relocated there and became the Baltimore Ravens.

The Ravens have been one of the league’s most successful franchises ever since, with 14 playoff appearances in the last 20 years. But Sunday marks the first time they’ve played host to an AFC Championship Game.

Also, it’s the first time since 2017 the conference championship game won’t be played in Kansas City.

Some 39% of ticket sales through StubHub have come from accounts in Maryland, 15% from VIrginia and less than 5% each from Missouri and Kansas.
