There will be no shortage of Chiefs content this week.

The NFL Network will air two documentaries about the Chiefs on Wednesday night, one day before the Chiefs open the 2023 NFL season by facing the Lions at GEHA Field at Arrowhead Stadium.

Hours before the game kicks off, which is at 7:20 p.m. and will air on KSHB (Ch. 41), the Chiefs will hold a tailgate for fans no matter where they live.

While the actual tailgate will take place outside Arrowhead Stadium, it will be streamed to anyone who wants to watch, which is why the Chiefs are billing it as the world’s largest.

The tailgate will have a definite Kansas City flavor. It will be hosted by Veronica Jo Merrell-Burriss and Vanessa Jo Merrell-Vaughn (better known the Merrell Twins), who were born in Kansas City. “Saturday Night Live” star/”Big Slick” co-host Heidi Gardner and Donna Kelce, the mother of Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce, will be featured in “segments” of the tailgate, the Chiefs said.

The team promises live shots from Chiefs bars around the world.

Here’s how it will work for fans not at Arrowhead.

People who want to watch can go to www.chiefslive.com and leave their name and an email address to reserve a “virtual seat to attend this unique show celebrating the start of the football season.”

Fans then will be able to watch on their phone, tablet or computer.

Anyone attending Thursday’s game can go to the Chiefs’ Ford Tailgate District to watch the show.

“Chiefs Kingdom is wherever you are, and the World’s Largest Tailgate is one way we can unite people in Kansas City, around the country and throughout the world around the fact that NFL football is back in a big way,” Chiefs President Mark Donovan said in a news release. “We are incredibly proud of our football team, our fans and our tailgating culture, and we’re certain that we’ll be exporting a special look at GEHA Field at Arrowhead and the Chiefs through this unique music and entertainment experience.”
