Child airlifted after accidental shooting

Dec. 5—LACKEY — A young child has been hospitalized after accidentally being shot by his sibling.

According to Monroe County Sherriff Kevin Crook, a 2-year-old male was airlifted to UAB Hospital in Birmingham on Sunday, Dec. 4, after his sibling mistakenly shot him. Crook said the sheriff's office received the emergency call at around noon on Sunday on Bartahatchie Road.

As of Monday morning, the child's condition had not been made public.
