Police seize 17 dogs after animal attack on girl, 6, on residential street in Manchester
A young girl was taken to hospital after she was attacked by dogs in Carrington, Greater Manchester, police said.
Police have seized 17 dogs after a six-year-old girl was the victim of a dog attack on a street in Manchester.
The child was attacked in the village of Carrington in Trafford, Greater Manchester, on Sunday afternoon.
She was later taken to hospital for treatment for her injuries and remains there in a stable condition.
Police said they were called to an address on Ackers Lane just before 2.40pm.
Neighbours said another girl and a man fought the dogs off the child, who was then carried away by a woman believed to be her mother.
Greater Manchester Police seized four dogs and nine puppies on Sunday, then said later they had recovered a further four dogs.
A van has also been found in south Manchester and is being examined by police as part of the investigation.
Three people were arrested on Sunday on suspicion of owning a dangerous dog. All three have since been released on bail.

One man, who asked not to be named, said: "I have seen two big dogs on the street a lot. It's scary that this has happened here. She was just playing out and then this has happened to the poor little girl."
Police said they are working to locate individuals they believe have responsibility for the dogs.
Detective Inspector Matthew Dixon, from Greater Manchester Police's Trafford district, said: "This is a fluid investigation and so far we have recovered 17 dogs and made three arrests, as well as a vehicle of interest.
"However, the investigation is very much ongoing and anyone with information should contact police, quoting log 1612-26/03/23."
Greater Manchester Police said it has referred itself to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) over the incident.
Meanwhile, it was reported on Monday that hospitals in England are treating three children under the age of 16 every day for serious injuries caused by dog attacks.
The data was compiled by Hits Radio following a Freedom of Information request to NHS England.
The figures revealed that in the last eight-month period there were 255 procedures for skin repair carried out on children aged five and under because of dog attacks.
There were 246 procedures on five to nine-year-olds and 186 procedures on 10 to 14-year-olds, Hits Radio reported.
