Child injured in crash involving Grand Haven school bus

ROBINSON TWP. — A child was injured in a crash involving a school bus on Thursday, Jan. 26.

Deputies from the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a crash at the intersection of Lincoln Street and 128th Avenue in Robinson Township at approximately 6:49 a.m. Thursday.

Upon arrival, they learned a 41-year-old Grand Haven man was driving eastbound on Lincoln Street in a Ford Fusion, traveling through the intersection at 128th Avenue, when a school bus from Grand Haven Area Public Schools attempted to turn left onto southbound 128th Avenue, causing a collision.

A passenger in the Fusion, 12, was injured and taken to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Fusion also suffered minor injuries, but refused medical treatment.

There were eight children on the bus at the time of the crash, none of whom were injured. They were moved to another GHAPS bus and taken to school. The bus driver, a 58-year-old Grand Haven woman, was also uninjured.

The crash remains under investigation.
