Is your child ready for school? Here’s where you can get free school supplies in Sacramento
It’s back to school season again and families throughout the Sacramento region are preparing their students to return to campus for the ensuing 2023-24 school year.
Over a dozen community-based organizations and individuals have come together to assist families in gearing up for the school year by distributing free school supplies.
Throughout the month of August and beginning of September, families can visit locations hosting back-to-school drives around Sacramento to collect the items they need.
Check out the list below to see the variety of distribution dates in the various Sacramento locations.
Thursday, August 10
Anissa’s Art Corner: Back to School Giveaway
Where: Florin Square, 2251 Florin Road, Suite 114
When: Noon to 5 p.m.
Additional information: Anissa’s Art Corner is accepting donations through Aug. 31. Donations will be collected at Escape Velocity, located at 2251 Florin Road, Suite 113.
St. Hope Academy: Back to School Barbecue
Where: McClatchy Park, 3500 5th Ave.
When: 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Additional information: Free barbecue, fun games and prizes

Voice of the Youth: Summer Nights of Impact

Project Optimism: The Power of Giving Back to School Family Event
Where: Howe Park Community Center, 2201 Cottage Way

South Sacramento Christian Center: Annual Back to School Backpack & School Supply Giveaway
Where: South Sacramento Christian Center, 7710 Stockton Blvd.

Kingdom Not of this World: Clothing Back 2 School Drive
Where: Mack Road Valley High Community Center, 7833 Center Parkway
When: Noon to 4 p.m.
Additional information: This event will include a basketball tournament, live DJ, free giveaways, free food, free drinks, jump houses, face paintings, free haircuts and hair braiding, food trucks, local vendors, and availability to community resources.

Heroes 4 Youth: School Supply Pop-Up

When: Starts at 1 p.m.
Additional information: For those interested in donations, you may bring a backpack filled with supplies in exchange for one free lunch plate which includes a loaded baked potato with your choice of chicken, steak or shrimp.
Black Youth Leadership Project: Back to School Resource Fair
Where: 8230 Civic Center Drive, #100, Elk Grove
When: 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Stunna Chips and The Rich Groomer: 4th Annual Back to School Giveaway and Day Party
