Child sex abuse: Mahopac man sent to prison for sexual conduct in Ossining

A Mahopac man was sentenced Tuesday to 15 years in state prison after pleading guilty last month to sexually abusing a child in Ossining.

Westchester County District Attorney Mimi Rocah said County Court Judge Susan Cacace also sentenced Segundo Loja-Mayancela, 34, to 15 years of post-release supervision. He also will be required to register as a sex offender after completing his prison sentence.

Loja-Mayancela pleaded guilty on Sept. 13 to first-degree course of sexual conduct against a child, a felony.

According to Rocah, Loja-Mayancela subjected a child to sexual intercourse and other sexual acts on multiple occasions between January 2017 and October 2019 in the village of Ossining. The child was 10 years old when the abuse began, Rocah said.

The Ossining Police Department arrested Loja-Mayancela on May 20, 2022, following an investigation in which they received assistance from the Putnam County Sheriff's Office.

Loja-Mayancela's attorney could not immediately be reached for comment.
