Child shot in apparent road rage incident in Del Valle; Travis County officials seek suspect

The Travis County sheriff’s office is seeking the public’s help to locate a man who officials say shot a child in an apparent road rage incident in Del Valle Monday night.

A family was traveling in a passenger vehicle near Elroy Road and Fagerquist Road around 7:30 p.m. when another driver opened fire on the vehicle, the sheriff’s office said in a news release. A child in the car was struck by a bullet and severely injured.

The child survived and is in stable condition, the release said.

The sheriff’s office described the suspect as a 17- to 20-year-old male who was driving a 2008 to 2020 black Chevrolet Tahoe.

The office asked that anyone with information about the suspect or the crime call the tip line at 512-854-1444 or call Crime Stoppers at 512-472-TIPS (8477).
