Child shot while in bed at Greenville apartment complex

A child was taken to the hospital Tuesday night after being shot while in bed, according to the Greenville County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies received a call about a child being shot at an apartment complex on Eunice Drive around 11:40 p.m. Deputies arrived and found the child suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound.

Investigators learned that the child nor any of the occupants inside the apartment were intended to be a target, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Investigators are asking anyone with information regarding this shooting to call Crime Stoppers at 23-CRIME.

Deputies are continuing to work on identifying the person or people responsible, the Sheriff's Office said.
