Child struck by car Wednesday on Meighan Boulevard

A 7-year-old child was struck by a vehicle Wednesday night in Gadsden and taken to Children's of Alabama hospital in Birmingham for treatment.

Gadsden Fire Chief Wil Reed said the child was with an adult, trying to cross Meighan Boulevard, when the child was hit by a vehicle. The child was taken by A-Med Ambulance to Birmingham, with Gadsden fire medics accompanying.

The incident occurred at about 7:14 p.m. Wednesday on Meighan Boulevard at or near 12th street.
