The coroner said it appeared the child had gotten out of her home and wandered into a neighbor’s pond.

According to a spokesperson with the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to a report of a child falling in a pond at an address off Highway 157 at about 3:45 p.m.

The spokesperson said deputies on the scene started CPR and then transported the child to the Lawrence Medical Center themselves, so they could get the child there quicker.
