Child Victims Act of 2023 moves closer to governor's desk

Legislation eliminating the statute of limitations on child sex abuse cases is closer to landing on the governor's desk. The Maryland House of Delegates and Senate have identical bills, and they face just a few more legislative procedures before final passage. Once out of committee, each chamber will have to put its final stamp of approval on their bill before it goes to the governor, who is expected to sign it. In November 2022, Maryland's attorney general asked a Baltimore court to allow the release of a report on sex abuse in the Catholic Church. A Baltimore City Circuit Court judge ruled in February that a redacted version of the report can be released.
