Children of the American Revolution will hold flag retirement ceremony Saturday

Oct. 3—Children of the American Revolution (CAR) will hold its annual flag retirement ceremony Saturday at 2 p.m. at Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4190 on Veterans Drive in Decatur.

The event is designed to demonstrate the proper and dignified manner for disposal of tattered and unusable versions of the U.S. flag. The event is a combined effort from the CAR, Sons of the American Revolution, Boy Scouts, and VFW.

CAR said the ceremony will be brief and will involve a color guard and buglers. In the case of rain, the event will be held Sunday at VFW Post 4190 at 2 p.m.
