Children suffer minor injuries in school bus crash on Highway 210 in Minnesota's Cass County

Feb. 11—BRAINERD — Three students suffered minor injuries, but none needed to be taken to the hospital after the school bus they were riding was in a two-vehicle crash along Highway 210 in Cass County.

The drivers both suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

The school bus was traveling west at 7:59 a.m. Friday, Feb. 9, on Highway 210 at 37th Avenue Southwest. The Minnesota State Patrol reported the school bus attempted to turn south onto Cass County Highway 1. The school bus made contact with a GMC Savana van hauling a trailer that was traveling east on Highway 210.

There were 34 children on the bus.

Road conditions were affected by snow and ice.

The Pillager Fire Department, Cass County Sheriff's Office and North Memorial Health Ambulance responded to the scene.

Jeremy L. Trebesch, 45, Pillager, was driving the 2019 GMC Savana and John G. Peterson, 73, Cushing, was driving the 2012 ICRP 3000. Both were wearing seat belts and both were taken to Lakewood Health System.
