Jan. 12—The following events are planned at Morley Library in Painesville during February.

Children's events

Toddler Time

Mondays, 10:30 a.m.

For ages 0-3 years. No registration required.

Join staff for stories, songs, activities, and bubbles. Child attends with a caregiver.

Music In Motion

Wednesdays, 10:30 a.m.

For ages 2 — 5 years. No registration required.

Stories, rhymes, music and instruments for active kiddos. Child attends with caregiver.

Books at Bedtime

Wednesdays, 6 p.m.

For all ages. No registration required.

A perfect way to end the day. Child attends with caregiver, and pajamas and stuffed animals are welcome!

Little Learners

Tuesdays, 6 p.m. and Thursdays, 10:30 a.m.

For ages 4 — 5 years. Registration required.

Calling all preschoolers who will start kindergarten in Fall 2023: Get ready for kindergarten through games, songs and stories. Practice being away from caregiver, listening to a teacher and working in a classroom setting. Children will attend without caregivers, but caregivers must remain on the Children's floor.

Travelin' Tots

Fridays, 10:30 a.m

For ages 2 — 5. No registration required.

Geared toward ages 2-5, little ones will travel the world through stories and songs in this a very active storytime. Learn about kids around the globe, get ready for school and have fun! Caregivers stay in the room during the activity.

Build-a-Fox Workshop

Saturday, Feb. 4, 11 a.m.

For ages 3-9. Registration required.

You are invited to build your very own stuffed fox and enjoy a storytime. This is a free workshop, but space is limited to the first 20 registrants. Please ONLY register the child attending the workshop, even if a caregiver will be attending with them.

Celebrate Cereal

Saturday, Feb. 11, 10:30 a.m.

For all ages. No registration required.

Crunch, crunch, crunch — which is your favorite? We'll celebrate this favorite food by eating it and making a cereal craft. Registration required.

Toddler Craft: White Crayon Water Resist Art

Monday, Feb. 13, 11 a.m.

For ages 18 months — 6 years. Registration required.

Have fun with painting and let us take care of the mess. We'll play with white crayons and watercolor paint — watch how the paint magically reveals your child's drawing. We provide all materials and aprons, but dress for mess. Please only register the child who will be painting.

Paws 2 Read

Thursday, Feb. 16, 4 to 6:30 p.m.

For grades K-3. Registration required.

Young readers can relax and read to a therapy dog in a cozy, pressure-free environment. Sign up for your 15 minute time slot in person or by phone at (440) 352-3383, ext. 200.

Hot Chocolate Storytime

Saturday, Feb. 18, 11 a.m.

For ages 3-9. Registration required.

What could be more cozy than hot chocolate and a story? Come in from the cold and join us for books and fun!

Puppet Palooza!

Adult Craft Kit: Valentine's Day Pet Plush

Starts Monday, Feb. 6

If you love to pamper your pet with gifts, then this is the craft for you. On Feb. 6, check out our latest video on TikTok (@morleylibrary) where Michaela shows you how to create a DIY pet plush complete with a squeaker or catnip. No pets? Make this for a friend's furry pal! Kits can be picked up at the 3rd floor desk or our drive-up window beginning February 6, while supplies last. Author Visit: Romona Robinson

Join us as we wrap up our Winter Reading Program with a visit from journalist and author Romona Robinson. Romona is an eight-time Emmy Award-winning journalist, philanthropist and entrepreneur with 30 years of public speaking experience. She is a national award-winning author of "A Dirt Road to Somewhere" and her latest book "Your Voice is Your Power." She is founder of Romona's Kids, an Emmy-nominated television program-turned-institution in Cleveland she started in 1990 to empower and encourage youth to find their path. Romona is a television trailblazer, becoming the first Black female to anchor an evening broadcast in Cleveland. She was also the first woman to solo anchor an evening newscast in the city. She is one of the most well-respected and admired journalists in Northeast Ohio, having earned the trust of viewers for her integrity and unbiased reporting. As a journalist, Romona has traveled the country, covering presidents and world leaders, including Nelson Mandela and the late Ronald Reagan. In 2011, she garnered a rare, exclusive interview with President Barack Obama. Along with her colleagues at station WOIO-TV 19, where she served as primary anchor, Romona won the coveted Edward R. Murrow Award in 2014. She was inducted into the Press Club of Cleveland's Journalism Hall of Fame in 2016 and had the honor of receiving the Alpha Woman Award in 2017, which is given to women who exemplify strength in their field and use it to empower other women. For 21 years, Romona served as the honorary chair of the Komen Race for the Cure, helping to bring awareness and hope to countless breast cancer survivors. Romona's tireless work with children and her dedication to diversity issues have earned her such prestigious awards as the YWCA's Women of Achievement Award and The Diversity in Media Award. Romona is also recognized for her powerful, dynamic messages as a motivational speaker.
