Is your child's car seat installed properly? Free event in Athens will have an expert check

Three out of four car seats are not installed properly, according to Athens-Clarke County Fire and Emergency Services.

To make sure you car seat is correctly installed, there is a free car check event on Thursday, Sept. 28 from 5-7 p.m., located at the YMCA at 915 Hawthorne Ave.

The certified experts will check to see if your car seat is properly installed and the right fit for your child's age and size. The experts can answer any other car seat safety questions.

If you can't make it to this free event, you can make an appointment at the Children's Medical Services at 740 Prince Ave. Bldg. 15, or the Clarke County Sheriff's Office at 325 East Washington St. Both of these are listed as Georgia Governor's Office of Highway Safety fitting locations.

The Oconee County Sheriff's Office, at 1140 Experiment Station Rd., also offers this service. Call 706-769-5665 for more information.
