Chile Protesters Torch Public Buildings After Juggler Shot by Police

Municipal buildings were torched in the Chilean town of Panguipulli late on Friday, February 5, after the fatal shooting of a street performer by police earlier in the day.

Footage streamed live by the Municipality of Panguipulli shows the smoldering remains of the municipal building on Saturday morning, several hours after protesters had set it on fire.

Viral footage of the shooting that sparked the protests showed two armed officers surrounding a man, who was a juggler, according to local media. Shots are heard, and the man then advances towards the officer into the street. More shots are heard, and the man falls to the ground.
