Chili fundraiser is Saturday at Davenport fairgrounds

The 15th-annual Hand in Hand Chili Cook-Off is Saturday, Feb. 3 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the Fair Center, Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, 2815 W. Locust St., Davenport.

There are 18 teams competing this year for awards, and the benefit includes a silent auction, raffles, and kids’ activities (including David Casas Magic and The Snap Wagon Mobile Photo Booth). There are several crowd favorites coming back this year, as well as new teams like What BBQ & Bar, Coal Valley Fire Protection District, Echo CO 334 BSB, Iowa 80 Recruiting Team, and Freddy’s Frozen Custard & Steakburgers.

But the Chili Cook-Off is more than just a feast for the senses. Behind the festivities lies a deeper purpose: to empower children and adults of all abilities through inclusive programs and unwavering support, according to the event website.

Every spoonful of chili, every smile exchanged, and every dollar raised contributes to Hand in Hand’s vision of creating a more inclusive Quad Cities. Hand in Hand empowers children and adults of all abilities to learn and grow by providing inclusive programs and supporting families.

Raffle prizes for $20 tickets include a 3D Printer, kayak, Go Pro, Blackstone Grill and a Samsung 50” UHD 4K Smart TV.

The Chili Cook-Off event draws over 1,200 attendees each year, raising an average of $103,000. Tickets for Saturday are $10 online for adults, $15 at the door; kids (5-12) just $5 and free for those under 5.
