Chillicothe High School Top Ten Students

Valedictorian

Allison Lutz

Lutz earned a 4.83 GPA while taking five Honors, two AP, and 13 CCP courses during her time at CHS. She participated in the CHS Drama Club/Thespian Troupe 3170 (President), National Beta Club (Fundraising Committee Chair), Tri-M Music Honors Society (Event Coordinator), Cavalites Show Choir (Alto Section Leader), Symphonic Choir, Keys to Success, Paper City Players, and Chillicothe Civic Theatre. Allison plans to attend Denison University where she will double-major in English and Educational Studies, while minoring in Theatre. With these degrees, she hopes to become a high school English teacher and lead a theatre program.

Lutz invited CHS Social Studies teacher Travis Keirns to the Top Ten Dinner as her guest of honor. She states, “There are about a hundred people I want to thank for setting me on this path of success! Thank you to my parents and grandparents for always believing in me and pushing me to be the very best version of myself that I can be. Thank you to my best friend, Maddox Woods, for being my other half and showing me what never-ending friendship means. And thank you to Mr. Keirns and Mrs. Kennard for inspiring me to follow in your footsteps and becoming a meaningful educator.”

She is the daughter of Erin and Mark Lutz.

Salutatorian

Maddox Woods

Woods earned a 4.727 GPA while taking four Honors, two AP, and 18 CCP courses during her time at CHS. In addition, she participated in Tri-M Music Honor Society, Beta Club, National Honor Society, Jazz Band, Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Pep Band, Marching Band, Lacrosse, Bowling, and Keys to Success as an Ambassador. Maddox plans to attend Miami University, double majoring in Psychology and Forensic Science. She hopes to earn her Ph.D and work for the FBI, focusing on Forensic Psychology.

She invited CHS Literacy Coach Jessica Orr to the Top Ten Dinner as her guest of honor. She states, “Thank you to my parents for the support, motivation, love, and guidance throughout my high school journey. Thank you to the faculty for always making sure I could succeed. Finally, thank you to Mrs. Orr, the teacher who made me fall in love with English again.”

She is the daughter of Lola and Brad Woods.

Alexandra Alderman

Alderman earned a 4.67 GPA while taking two Honors, three AP, and seven CCP courses during her time at CHS. In addition, she participated in CHS and club soccer, Color Guard, Basketball, Musical Theatre (CHS and Community), Thespians Society, Tri-M Music Honor Society, National Honor Society, Beta Club, Student Council, Symphonic Choir, Concert Choir, Sound FX, Cavalites Show Choir, Academy in Medicine, and C-Section. After graduation, Alexandra plans to attend the University of Cincinnati or Ohio University in pursuit of a degree in Biology with a concentration in the biology of animals or wildlife conservation. She hopes to eventually become a veterinarian.

She invited CHS Science teacher Mrs. Dawn Wilson to the Top Ten Dinner as her guest of honor. She states, “I definitely want to thank my parents for everything they have done for me to get to this point in life. Without their love and support, I honestly do not know where I would be academically or mentally. They have always pushed me and encouraged me to be the best version of myself that I could possibly be.”

She is the daughter of Kathleen and Steven Alderman.

Avery Brown

Brown earned a 4.614 GPA while taking five Honors, four AP, and eight CCP courses during her time at CHS. In addition, she participated in National Honor Society as President, Student Council, Volleyball, Swim, Keys to Success, National Art Honor Society, Southern Ohio Survivors as a board member, and St. Peter’s Youth Group, “The Well.” After graduation, Avery plans to attend Ohio University as a Cutler Scholar, where she will study Political Science. With that degree, she hopes to pursue a law degree to use for managing non-profit organizations to better her community.

She invited CHS Social Studies teacher Mrs. Barbara Coulter to the Top Ten Dinner as her guest of honor. She states, “I would like to thank my parents for always motivating me, and expressing their pride in who I am and my accomplishments. Thank you for always giving me room to grow and be who I am without judgment. I would like to thank all of the teachers and staff at CHS who have helped me achieve my goals and for making CHS a better place to learn. A special thank you to Mrs. Coulter, who provided me with tools that have made me a better student.”

She is the daughter of Wendy and David Brown.

Schylar Srey

Srey earned a 4.603 GPA while taking seven Honors, four AP, and 10 CCP courses during his time at CHS. In addition, he participated in Soccer, Football, Track, Baseball, SkillsUSA, National Honor Society, Beta Club, and Tri-M Music Honor Society. Schylar plans to attend the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis, where he will study Computer Science and Data Science. Schylar wishes to pursue a career about which he is most passionate while maintaining a happy lifestyle for himself and family.

Schylar invited CHS Orchestra Director Mr. Thomas Watts to the Top Ten Dinner as his honored guest. He states, “Thank you to those who supported me along my high school journey as well as those who didn’t. Without any of you I wouldn’t have been able to grow and push myself past my limits like I had. I’d like to especially thank my Mom, Dad, and Brother for the love, support, and sacrifices they have made for me to get to where I am today.”

He is the son of Sophea Bobby Srey and Doantrinh Ashley Ky.

Avery Erslan

Erslan earned a 4.577 GPA while taking seven Honors, six AP, and five CCP courses during her time at CHS. In addition, she participated in Soccer, Basketball, National Honor Society, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and Orchestra. Avery plans to major in Biology at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. While Avery does not know what specific job or career path she would like to have in the future, she does know that she wants to have a job that focuses on helping other people and brings glory to God.

She invited CHS English teacher Ms. Kristen Early to the Top Ten Dinner as her honored guest. She states, “I want to say thank you to both of my parents. Their constant support has been an incredible blessing to me. Knowing that my parents love me, no matter what I accomplish, created a safe place for me to grow as a person. It also allowed me to remain confident in myself and my ability to achieve.”

She is the daughter of Shelby and Mark Erslan.

Morgan Harper

Harper earned a 4.566 GPA while taking 6 Honors, 4 AP, and 9 CCP courses during his time at CHS. In addition, she participated in Keys to Success, National Honor Society, National Beta Club, Tri-M Music Honor Society, Girls Soccer, Boys Tennis, Student Council, Peer Support Program, Project School Tools, Social-Emotional Learning Groups at Chillicothe Primary School, and YoungLife. Morgan plans to major in Pre-Med and Psychology at Miami University with a long-term goal of opening her own practice in Psychiatry.

She invited CHS Social Worker Mrs. Leslie Hamman to the Top Ten Dinner as her honored guest. She states, “Thank you to my parents, my sister, and my dog Oakley for always supporting me and being in my corner.”

She is the daughter of Lisa and Rick Harper.

Elizabeth Henson

Henson earned a 4.473 GPA while taking 7 Honors, 5 AP, and 4 CCP courses during her time at CHS. In addition, she participated in National Honor Society, Academy in Medicine, CHS Volleyball, Mintonette Volleyball Club, Roundtown Volleyball Club, The Well Youth Group, Keys to Success, CHS Cross Country, and CHS Swim. Elizabeth plans to attend Shawnee State University or Ohio University where she has a conditional acceptance to the Heritage College of Osteopathic Medicine. She plans to study Biomedical Sciences to prepare for her future goal of attending medical school to become a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine.

She invited OU-C Student Liaison Ms. Ashlee Tatman to the Top Ten Dinner as her honored guest. She states, “Thank you to my teachers for providing positive classroom experiences. Thank you to my family for your constant support and encouragement.”

She is the daughter of Julie and Rick Henson.

Mikayla Spaulding

Spaulding earned a 4.471 GPA while taking 4 AP and 7 CCP courses during her time at CHS. In addition, she participated in Varsity Softball, Varsity Golf, Beta Club, National Honor Society, and the Academy in Medicine. Mikayla plans to major in Nursing at Ohio University where she hopes to pursue a job that allows her to travel and see the world.

She invited CHS Softball Coach Mrs. Andrea Morgan to the Top Ten Dinner as her honored guest. She states, “I would like to thank my parents and teachers for always offering support and resources to help me meet all of my goals.“

She is the daughter of Brandy and Joseph Spaulding.

Paige Huggins

Huggins earned a 4.431 GPA while taking 5 Honors, 5 AP, and 4 CCP courses during her time at CHS. In addition, she participated in Basketball, Track and Field, Soccer, and Student Council. Paige’s future plans remain undecided at this time, but her long-term goal is to create her own happiness.

She invited CHS Art Teacher Mrs. Lori Dana to the Top Ten Dinner as her honored guest. She states, “I would like to thank my parents for always supporting me no matter what. My teachers, for helping me to get here and being amazing mentors for me. Also, anyone who has helped me along the road, like guidance counselors and administration.”

She is the daughter of Rachel and Dave Huggins.
