China calls for dialogue between Ukraine and Russia amid shelling of Zaporizhzhia NPP
"Of course, it is important to end the crisis (around the ZNPP — ed.) as soon as possible," Jun said.

“We support all efforts aimed at ending the crisis and bringing the parties to the negotiating table today and finding a solution.”
He also noted that he hopes for a possible visit of IAEA Director General Rafael Grossi to the Zaporizhzhia NPP in order to get more detailed information about the situation around the plant. However, Russian authorities have so far rebuffed all calls and attempts of the IAEA to visit and audit the plant, Europe’s largest nuclear facility..

Russian troops continued shelling the territory of the Zaporizhzhia NPP on Aug. 11, with one shell striking close to the plant’s first power unit. In parallel with the shelling of the station by its army, Moscow initiated a meeting of the UN Security Council, trying to shift responsibility to Ukraine by lying that Kyiv was responsible for the attacks.
The Zaporizhzhia NPP was captured by Russian invaders after the battles in the nearby town of Enerhodar on March 4. ZNPP buildings have been damaged by Russian shelling in several places, and the station's workers were captured.
The Russian general in charge of the plant has claimed to have mined the entire facility, and has threatened Ukraine by saying that the region will become Russia’s, or be “scorched land.”
