China Gets World of Warcraft McDonald's Makeovers

In a bid to promote MMO World of Warcraft in the gamer-rich country of China, various McDonald's restaurants in the region have been redesigned with a WoW theme.

Kotaku reports from China that McDonald's establishments in Beijing, Shanghai, and Guangzhou have all been made over with paintings and character art from WoW.

Where posters for burgers once were are now banners for the Horde and the Alliance, the two major factions from WoW. Workers at the participating McDonald's are even wearing special hats and shirts focused around the game, which celebrates its 10th anniversary next month.

More amazingly, some of the participating McDonald's featured front entrances decked out with gates and pillars in an attempt to give off the fantasy feeling the game evokes. Some of the restaurants even have replicas of Thrall's hammer for you to see (and touch).

Chinese WoW fans can even get in-game goodies (like pets and potions) by redeeming codes on this special website after visiting a participating McDonald's. The promotion ends on November 4.

Warlords of Draenor, the fifth expansion for WoW, launches on November 13. Developer Blizzard Entertainment recently revealed that the WoW development team is bigger than it ever has been and teased that the studio already has ideas in mind for expansions beyond Warlords of Draenor.
