According to U.S. intelligence agencies, China might be assisting Russia in evading Western sanctions and likely supplies Moscow with military and dual-use technologies, Reuters reported on July 27.

A recent unclassified U.S. National Intelligence report alleges that China is providing Russia with dual-use technologies, which the Russian military uses to continue the war in Ukraine, notwithstanding international sanctions and export controls. State defense corporations in China are suspected of delivering navigation equipment, electronic warfare technologies, and components for fighter jets to Russian defense firms under sanctions.

“The PRC is providing some dual-use technology that Moscow's military uses to continue the war in Ukraine, despite an international cordon of sanctions and export controls,” Reuters quotes from the document.

The report further states that, since Moscow's invasion of Ukraine in 2022, China has evolved into an "even more important partner" for Russia. The United States and its allies have consistently alleged that China is considering the provision of weapons to Russia. U.S. media suggested that these weapons might include drones, ammunition, and artillery. Beijing refutes these allegations, while Kyiv states that it sees no evidence of direct military assistance from China to Russia.

On July 21, an advisor to French President Emmanuel Macron stated that China is supplying military equipment to Russia for use in the war against Ukraine.

Politico recently reported that imports of drones from China to Russia in 2023 exceeded $100 million, which is 30 times more compared to Ukraine.
