STORY: A local CCTV correspondent in previous days demonstrated how cold Mohe was by cracking an egg outside on a shovel and showing it freeze within seconds on camera.

Mohe is no newcomer to subarctic temperatures and China's coldest temperature on record was set by the city of Genhe in nearby Inner Mongolia region at -58 degrees Celsius ( -72.4 Fahrenheit) in 2009, state media said.
