STORY: The protesters outside the world's busiest station demonstrated on a range of issues including strict COVID-19 lockdowns, waving flags and banners including the Tibetan, Taiwanese and colonial-era British Hong Kong flags.

Others held signs denouncing the Chinese Communist Party and China's President Xi Jinping.

"We don't have democracy. We don't have freedom. So it will take a lot of risk for us to... our voice to be heard because the government only wants their voice to be heard, only one voice for all of the country," 25 year-old student, Wilson Wan, said.

China's zero-COVID policy of strict lockdowns also came under fire, with frustration over three years of tough measures boiling over.
