A new season of "Kentucky Life" on KET kicks off this month with stories about a high school sports museum in Floyd County, the Pioneer Playhouse in Danville, plant-based restaurants in Lexington, and skeletons at a Louisville church.

To launch Season 28 of the long-running KET program, "Kentucky Life" also has a new host. Louisville's Chip Polston takes over for Doug Flynn who hosted from 2016-2022.

As the new host, Polston will explore the fascinating people, places, and history of the Commonwealth, beginning Saturday, Jan. 21.

“As a lifelong Kentuckian, the opportunity to go out and tell stories about my home is beyond exciting to me,” Polston said. “I can’t wait to get out into our beautiful Commonwealth and meet the fascinating people who make this state so special.”

In the first episode airing on Jan. 21, Polston will take viewers to the restoration efforts of the old Wayland gym in Floyd County to house a museum honoring the region’s standout high school athletes. He also travels to the Pioneer Playhouse in Danville, which has treated theatre lovers to outdoor performances under the stars for more than seven decades.

The season premiere also highlights a pair of plant-based restaurants in Lexington that are challenging the notion that vegan foods are bland or boring and a visit to the St Martin of Tours Catholic Church in Louisville, which houses the skeleton remains of two 2000-year-old Roman Martyrs.

You can catch episode one of the new season on KET Saturday, Jan. 21 at 8 p.m. and on KET2 Monday, Jan. 23 at 7 p.m. And to view more "Kentucky Life" episodes online, as well as those from KET’s archives, at KET.org/KentuckyLife.
