'It’s like a Chipotle but for donuts': Customize your hand-dipped donut at Sweet Kneads

BRIDGEWATER – Sick of "stale" donuts that sit all day? Then head over to Sweet Kneads Bake Truck in Bridgewater where donuts, cookies, brownies, donut breakfast sandwiches and sweet drinks await you.

Jason Correia, 30, found his donut-making niche as he wanted more out of life and a fresh start to entrepreneurship.

The food truck, located at at 60 Hale St., Bridgewater, has an assortment of freshly cooked, hand-dipped donuts that are made to order with over 18 flavors to choose from, so you can satisfy any craving.

“It’s like a chipotle but for donuts. You can customize your donut any way you want,” Correia said.

Some of the most popular flavors include Cinnamon Toast Crunch, apple cider, Oreo, Boston crème pie, and regular donuts frosted with either chocolate or strawberry and then dipped with your choice of topping.

The start of something new

The food truck opened in September 2022, and as it reaches its 16-month anniversary, Correia reflects on how far he’s come alone.

The adventure has been wild for Correia as he learns the ins and outs of the business without a mentor or guidance.

Correia is basically winging the business, and he’s doing a pretty good job at it, he said.

Several of his friends have food truck businesses, so he has some support to lean on. But his lack of business knowledge did not deterred him from opening one.

You don’t “need” anything besides the drive and willingness to achieve your goal, he said.

After purchasing the truck and doing heavy research on the business, it took Correia six months to get it off the ground, and for the business owner, it was a “fast” pace.

“It was a big investment, but I was all in. I can’t lie; I was scared. I’ve never done this before,” Correia said.

It was go big or go home, and Correia did what he knew would reap significant rewards in the long run.

“The best part about being an entrepreneur is running your own business how you want it and making your own schedule; no one can tell you what to do; it’s a great feeling,” Correia said.

The end goal for the entrepreneur is to have a brick-and-mortar shop with a drive-through and expand Sweet Knead Bake Shop all over the USA.
