Geordie Shore's Chloe Ferry and entrepreneur Wayne Lineker left their fans confused this week, when the latter shared a post that seemed to suggest they have gotten engaged.

The twosome, who recently appeared together on Celebs Go Dating, sparked relationship rumours with a couple of snaps that were uploaded to Wayne's Instagram on Wednesday, February 24.

In the photos, Chloe can be showing off a huge, sparkly ring on her left hand, as the pair smile for the camera.

"She said YES," Wayne's caption stated, before rounding things off with a "love you," a heart emoji, a ring emoji and a winking face emoji.

While many took to the comments section to share their well-wishes and congratulations, other followers proved sceptical as to the true meaning behind the "announcement" – especially as Chloe hasn't acknowledged any engagement talk over on her own page at time of writing. However, she did write "Love you" under the comments on the original post.

"Is this a post about people always believing what they see?" one person wrote under Wayne's message, as another joked: "April fools day isn't for another five weeks guys!"

"It's a joke obviously why is everyone [making] out it's real?" a third wondered.

"Lol all the people who believe this. You can see they are in the mansion in the background," another pointed out, noting that the picture was old and appears to have been taken during their time on Celebs Go Dating.

"Can I please be head chef of the buffet? Or give Chloe away?" their co-star Kimberly Hart-Simpson wrote.

Even the official Celebs Go Dating Instagram page admins offered a reply, writing: "Ummmm..." followed by the thinking monocle face emoji.

Shortly after the post went up, Lineker took to his Instagram Story to call out those who were leaving "ageist" replies underneath it.

"You really shouldn't try to publicly humiliate someone," he wrote as he shared some of the comments he deemed the most mean-spirited.

Digital Spy has reached out to both Wayne and Chloe's reps.
