Choco Town, motocross, HGTV stars: 5 things to do this weekend in metro Detroit

Learn the ins and outs of chocolate, meet the stars of HGTV’s ‘Bargain Block’ and watch professional dirt bike riders take on exciting obstacles. These are just a few reasons to get out and enjoy what metro Detroit has to offer for the weekend of March 17. Here are five things to do this weekend:

Choco Town - Oakland Mall

This sweet experience allows visitors to explore a chocolate village filled with interactive elements, taste-testing, creative backdrops for photo opportunities, games and more.

The 60-minute adventure runs through April 23. Hours are 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Thursdays; 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Fridays; 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturdays; and 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Sundays at Oakland Mall, 412 W. 14 Mile in Troy. Tickets are $25 for adults; $20 for students and seniors; $18 for children ages 4-12.

Detroit Spring Home & Garden Show

As we approach time to prep homes and gardens for warmer weather, the Detroit Spring Home & Garden Show will offer more than 100 home improvement professionals showcasing the latest products and trends, seminars, prizes, giveaways, demonstrations and more.

10 a.m.-7 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday at Huntington Place (formerly Cobo Center) at 1 Washington Blvd. in Detroit. Admission is free.

Artistic Creations in Wood

Metro Carvers Club of Michigan presents this wood carving show that will include carvings for sale, a raffle, door prizes and a people’s choice competition.

10 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Packard Proving Grounds Historic Site, 49965 Van Dyke in Shelby Township. Admission is $5 and includes Packard Museum displays. Children under 12 enter free.

Monster Energy AMA Supercross

Watch off-road motorcycle racers test their technical skills and precision as they compete on custom-designed tracks to earn points towards the SuperMotocross World Championship. Spectators can view riders as they take on exciting obstacles riding with jumps, turns and bumps over the course of a 17-round season. Riders race on technical dirt tracks that feature tight-banked corners, fast straightaways and a challenging rhythm section crafted to test their skills and endurance.

Top-tier riders like Jason Anderson, Ken Roczen and Eli Tomac will be in the premier 450 Class.

Doors open at noon; opening ceremonies begin at 6:30 p.m. Saturday at Ford Field, 2000 Brush St. in Detroit. Tickets start at $20 from ticketmaster.

More than 120 exhibitors with products, services and information to help improve your home and lifestyle will be at this 32nd home show presented by BRAG Ann Arbor. Live presentations and giveaways will also take place.

9 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturday and 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Sunday at Washtenaw Farm Council Grounds at 5055 Ann Arbor Saline road in Ann Arbor. Admission is $5 at the door; 12 and younger are free.
