Chocolate Stroll benefits the chocolate lovers and The Salvation Army Somerset

Chocolate. Chocolate and more chocolate!

That's what participants in The Salvation Army Somerset Service Center Chocolate Stroll will receive during the afternoon of fun.

It's an afternoon of delicious chocolate goodies while helping Somerset County's vulnerable neighbors in need. The event kicks off at 11 a.m. May 13, at the Daily American, 334 W. Main St., Somerset.

"Register at the front doors of the Daily American office, where there will be the canteen set out to pass out hot chocolate and chocolate lattes and other novelties," said Gale Purbaugh, director. "You get a map and then do your own personal stroll through town. Then come back to pick out a rose from the rose garden to get a prize which includes gift cards, ultimate pedicure, chocolate treats and items donated from area businesses."

This is the second year for the Chocolate Stroll.

"Last year went really well. We had a lot of participation," Purbaugh said.

This year there are some different chocolate novelties being offered.

"Chocolate gobs, chocolate covered pretzels, Gallikers chocolate milk and samples of chocolate covered bacon. It's delicious," she said.

Purbaugh is also pleased at the increase in participation from various businesses and organizations.

"This year we have different organizations as well as businesses participating. The Soroptimists, St. Paul's Presbyterian Church, Heirloom Pines and Community Life are new this year," she said. "The businesses and organizations are able to educate the community of the different services they provide.
