Need a bite while holiday shopping? This restaurant has opened in busy D’Iberville
The new Chopsticks restaurant in D’Iberville is open right in the middle of the shopping area on Sangani Boulevard, yet hidden away from the crowds.
Tucked in between Wendy’s and Walmart, the restaurant at 3663 Sangani Blvd. is modern and convenient for those who want to drop by and get takeout or sit and make their shopping list while they order lunch or dinner.
“It’s not a buffet — it’s something different,” Vincent Lan said about his family’s new business.
In addition to Chinese favorites like lo mein, fried rice and coconut shrimp, Chopsticks’ menu features Japanese hibachi — chicken, beef, shrimp, scallops or a combination. Hawaiian BBQ is another different item on the menu and for those who can’t choose, the restaurant has soup that’s a combination between wonton and egg drop soups.
Erde “Duke” Lan is the owner and a long-time chef.
“He just wants to share a little bit of his culture and spread happiness,” Vincent said.
Since it isn’t a franchise, the quality standards are higher, Vincent said, and the portions are very large.
The restaurant opened a couple weeks ago and already has favorites. Fried or steam dumplings and crab rangoon are the favorite appetizers. General Tso’s chicken and Mongolian beef are popular entrees and are made fresh daily.
Among the other choices are fried rice, spicy Szechuan beef and noodle soups.
Lunch specials are priced at $10.95 and come with fried rice and an egg roll. The dozen choices like shrimp and broccoli, lo mein and sweet and sour chicken are served until 3 p.m. daily.
For kids or those who prefer American dishes, the menu lists fried fish or shrimp with French fries, chicken wings and chicken tenders.
Chopsticks is open Monday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Friday and Saturday until 9:30 p.m. and closed Sunday. The phone number is 228-207-3070.
