At 1:36 p.m., Caltrans said one-way traffic controls were in place on Highway 89, four miles north of its junction with Highway 44, due to the traffic collision.

ORIGINAL STORY

The California Highway Patrol says a person died in a collision at Highways 44 and 89 in eastern Shasta County on Wednesday morning.

The collision was between a loaded logging truck and a black sedan at 10:50 a.m. about four miles north of Old Station, according to the CHP's traffic incident page.

The state Department of Transportation said on Twitter at 1:15 p.m. that Highway 89 remained blocked due to the collision.

No other details were immediately available.

The coroner's office has been called to the scene.
