Some in the right wing appear to be suffering from Taylor Derangement Syndrome as MAGA supporters and Donald Trump himself believe the NFL, Taylor Swift and NFL beau Travis Kelce are in cahoots with Democrats to win Joe Biden the presidential election. Chris Christie on Sunday dismissed the unfounded rumors as “ridiculous” and “crazy.”

“Outrageous. Ridiculous,” the former New Jersey governor and former GOP hopeful said after Meet the Press host Kristen Welker asked for his thoughts on the wild accusations. “Look, Taylor Swift is one of the great American success stories. We should be celebrating her, not having all these crazy conspiracy theories.”

“But this is the kind of thing that Donald Trump brings about,” Christie added.

He then posted video of his comments on X, formerly Twitter, with a reference to Swift’s “Karma” lyrics: “Karma’s going to track you down @realDonaldTrump.”

Rolling Stone previously reported that, according to a source close to Trump, the former president intends to declare a “holy war” on the pop superstar who endorsed Biden in 2020. Although Swift has not publicly backed a 2024 candidate, the Biden campaign is hopeful she will back the incumbent and aides have her name on their “wish lists of potential surrogates.” Believers in the conspiracy say Kelce being in the Super Bowl is all part of a grand propaganda plan orchestrated by the NFL, Democrats, Swift and Kelce to get Biden elected.

Even Sen. Marco Rubio weighed in on the conspiracy, saying Sunday, “I want the 49ers to win so we can get rid of these conspiracy theories about Taylor Swift.”

It’s not only fringe right-wingers like Laura Loomer — who claimed that the “Democrats’ Taylor Swift election interference psyop is happening in the open” — pushing conspiracy theories that the NFL has rigged the Super Bowl to put Kelce and Swift in the spotlight.

Vivek Ramaswamy, who ran for the 2024 Republican presidential nomination before suspending his campaign last month, wrote on X in response to alt-right political activist Jack Posobiec, “I wonder if there’s a major presidential endorsement coming from an artificially culturally propped-up couple this fall.”

Fox News host Jesse Watters claimed in January that “around four years ago, the Pentagon’s psychological operations unit floated turning Taylor Swift into an asset.” He added that Swift could now be “a front for a covert political agenda.”

“It’s real. The Pentagon psy-op unit pitched NATO on turning Taylor Swift into an asset for combating misinformation online,” Watters said.

The Pentagon responded to Watters’ allegations. Spokesperson Sabrina Singh said in a statement, “as for this conspiracy theory, we are going to shake it off.
