Chris Christie Dismisses Conservative Critics

After praising President Obama for his handling of super-storm Sandy, New Jersey Republican Gov. Chris Christie has recently come under fire from some on the right for ignoring Mitt Romney in the final days of the election.

In the last week, both Rush Limbaugh and Rupert Murdoch criticized Christie for his actions. On Friday, Murdoch said in a tweet the governor should “re-declare for Romney, or take blame for next four dire years.” On Wednesday, Limbaugh called Christie a “Greek column” for the Obama re-election effort.

But on Sunday, in his usual blunt style, Christie reaffirmed his support for Romney and dismissed the criticism, telling one local TV station, “Anybody who is upset in the Republican Party about this, they haven't been to New Jersey. Come see the destruction, come see the loss,” according to Reuters.

Christie said that he still plans to vote for Romney on Tuesday, however.

“I endorsed Mitt Romney 13 months ago because I thought he was the best guy for the job," he said.

Obama visited New Jersey last Wednesday in the aftermath of the storm, which claimed the lives of more than 100 people, according to latest estimates. Millions still remain without power.
